This is at your own level, your speed, in a safe, fun, and exciting venue! The Harbinger offers you the motivation, opportunity, and training regiment to increase your endurance capacity. Plus, it’ll be a crazy 2-day-long party!

Race Description

How The Race Works:

2. Run as many laps when you want
3. Rest when you want
4. Eat/Drink when you want
5. Run with whom you want
6. Receive a medal/recognition for the level you reach (tap out at a lower level or at the one you registered for)

Parallel Relays are relays where team members are collectively attempting to reach the target miles. Team members can run by themselves or at the same time as their other team members (hence parallel). To do this event ALL team members must sign up for the same event (i.e., SOOTHSAYER Parallel Relay, or BEOWULF Parallel Relay). Team size is at most six (6) people.

Individual Relays, where each team member is attempting the distance they individually signed up for. The teams collective miles will be summed up and compared against all other teams. Team size is at most six (6) people.

What You Get

  • Drinks (slushies and beer) and made-to-order meals from the 118 Bar & Grill (number of meals provided is based on registration level)

  • Support stands will include the following items (included in all registrations except General Admission):

  • All finishers receive a Harbinger medal and ribbon (regardless of distance)

  • Any finishers that does more than 100 Miles receives a Harbinger belt buckle

  • Every entrant gets a Harbinger shirt

  • Points are awarded to each runner based on the number of laps run, how close in time each lap was run, and what time of day the laps were run. Points are awarded to calculate a SERIES-WIDE ranking and to help identify who should be invited to the championship event.

Awards

  • Top 3 Males and Top 3 Females receive their registration fee back

  • Youngest and Oldest for each distance

  • Honorable mention to each age group winner for Male and Female (receive a sweet running buff!)

  • All Male, All Female, and Co-Ed teams with highest number of laps

  • Adding a bit of data analytics, we will be adding three more categories (based on laps and time If there is a tie). Know you are going to put in the time, but probably not win the grand prize? Here is a different way for you to get recognition.

    • Extra 3 categories for the runner that gets the closest to:

      • The average

      • 25th percentile

      • 75th percentile

Registration

Distances:

Anywhere from 2.7 miles to 100! Challenge yourself on your own terms. Start when you want to. Need a rest? Pick it back up when you are ready.

*Belt buckles are only given to those that run more than a 100 miles, regardless of your registration level.

Team Levels:

  • Discount for teams! 20% off! (Teams = 6 individuals)

  • Team categories: All Male; All Female; Co-Ed with any mixture

  • NOTE: team members will also be entered into their corresponding individual distance categories! So cool.

Charity

This event will be donating 10% of all registration fees to the UVA Children’s Hospital.

Logistics & Additional Costs

Rest/Sleep:

  • Cars, trucks, RVs all welcome (rentable electrical outlets available for RVs, if needed).

  • Tents/shelters allowed at indicated locations. You are welcome to set a tent up next to your vehicle, but you must have your own weights to secure your tent.

  • Rest up in our lounge areas, in the oval or in the stands.

  • Don’t have a tent? No problem you can use a cot (designated to you) for the event. Comes with a harbinger blanket.

Non-Running Costs:

  • Cash bar available for any drinks above what you purchase with your registration - see drink voucher above.

  • Additional meal vouchers for purchases:

    • Good for full event

    • Cheering on your Ultra buddies, but only racing a shorter distance yourself? Upgrade to this option to party all weekend.

  • Interested in getting a shirt for your individual distance level? Distance-specific shirts can be purchased as an add-on ahead of time or at the event.

    • I mean really, who doesn’t want a Half Donkey shirt??

  • General Admission = $15 (required for raceway entry)

    • NOTE: If you register for the race, this is already included! This fee is for spectators who are NOT running. It allows you to come and hang with your friends and cheer your favorite runner on.

  • Prices increase Jan 1, 2023, so please register now while you’re still thinking of it.
